With upwards of 51 million property searches expected between Christmas and the New Year, is it better to list now?
If you’re reading this and you’re unsure if now is a good time to sell, you might want to read on.
It is no big secret that the market, post-Christmas and into the new year is one of if not the busiest times for selling a property. So to most it seems like a no brainer to get your property valuation and listing done in the New Year, and be ready to sell. While you would be correct in doing that, I propose to you this. ‘List your property now?’
There are several reasons why this could be the best plan;
1 – By listing now you will be ready for the “Boxing Day bounce”. In each of the last couple of years, there has been record internet activity with more than 51 million visits across Rightmove as a whole between Boxing Day and the first working day of the new year. 51 million! Do you really want to miss out on that many pairs of eyes? I know I wouldn’t.
2 – If you list your property now you won’t be part of the mad rush of people trying to list ASAP in the New Year. So think of it a bit like being at the front of the queue in your favourite shop, or getting your Christmas shopping done early. When everyone else is rushing around trying to get on the market, you will already be listed, with your feet up, booking in all of your viewings! Less stress…..who wouldn’t love that?
3 – While we all know the British weather is never great at this time of year it is often better this side of Christmas rather than the other. So to show your property off in the best light, and to make it look as attractive as you can, we would recommend having the photographs taken now while the weather is still at its best.
To conclude, we would always recommend that at the very least think about listing your property now rather than in the New Year, the benefits of doing so are clear to see.
